Gear Grapler

Written by Guy Cain – Zombie Apocalypse Survival Camp

I was visiting a local bow shop recently, when one of the staff pointed at something and said, “Check this out! Isn’t this a great idea?”

I looked, but had no idea what I was looking at.

The clerk went on to explain what it was – a Gear Grappler. This is when my interest began to grow. Finally he hit upon what was, to me, the key selling point, “There’s even a compartment with matches and cotton.”

You see, survival situations can happen at any time. Don’t believe me? Do a little research on Every Day Carry (EDC) Kits, you’ll see what I’m talking about.

The Gear Grappler was created to help people avoid some serious situations and survive others that inevitably come up for hunters and outdoors men and women.

It comes with 30 feet of 550 cord, a carabiner, and a small grappling hook that fits into a hollow molded nylon body. Set into the body are 3 powerful rare earth magnets – much stronger than anything on your fridge at home.

If you’ve ever hunted from a tree stand, you know how frustrating it can be to drop an arrow or get in your stand just to realize that your lunch, release, or whatever else was left behind on the ground.

That means you have to climb back down, snapping branches, making noise, and scaring away any of the game in the area… not to mention the climb itself can actually be a bit dangerous.

This is where the Gear Grappler comes in.

Kept in your pocket or on your belt, the Gear Grappler eliminates needless climbing and that irritating back and forth of forgetting things.

Unroll the 550 cord, lower the hooks, and snag that left behind gear. The magnets will easily pick up any release, arrow, or other small magnetic objects. I tested them with one of my cedar shaft arrows and was impressed at just how strong the magnets are.

Use the grapple to snag and pull irritating branches out of your line of sight for a clean clear shot. No need to unhook your safety harness, risking life and limb (intentional pun). It’s called a “safety harness” for a reason, keep it on.

If things go south and you’re forced to spend the night in the woods, waiting for a search party, that 550 cord can help you build a shelter to keep you out of the elements, and the matches and cotton can help you get a fire going for the night.

Soon you’ll be relaxed and ready for whatever comes your way because you knew enough to be prepared, and you have the Gear Grappler with you do to it.

Gear Grappler is made in the U.S., with a easy-on-the-pocket price of $30 from GearGrappler.com. Which is certainly worth it for anyone that’s spent time in a tree stand.
